It is often recommended that if you are learning to play guitar try a right handed guitar first. There are a number of arguments for this philosophy. A few reasons are lack of availibility and higher pricing of left handed guitars. You have to use both hands anyway (they do not make left handed pianos). It is argued that you need most of your dexterity in your left hand for making chords and scale fingering.
But when you come right down to it, you have to feel comfortable with the instrument you purchase. Over the years we have found that there are people who are so left-handed that, despite dedicatedly trying to play on a right-handed guitar could only progress after switching to a left-handed guitar.
